Good afternoon LINC 7,


As only some of you will be writing the TOEFL or IELTS test and some of you have already completed some of the practice tests on the CDs, I'm going to collect information about what tasks you've already completed to avoid duplication.

In the meantime, I would like you to listen to an online discussion and then write about it after you've listened.  Please go the BBC Talk about English: Insight Plus website and listen to Part 1.

You will see that the script is available, but please do not look at the text unless you're really having difficulty understanding.  You may listen several times if necessary.  Please take notes while you're listening.

Once you've finished listening, I would like you to write a summary (minimum 150 words) of what you've heard and provide your own opinion in response to the topic discussed.  Hand in your writing before you leave.
